Little Egypt

Hoodoo with Henrys in the distance

Little Egypt Hoodoo

This interesting geologic oddity sits just west of Hwy 95 about 25 miles south of Hanksville.  The red and white formations somewhat resemble those of Goblin Valley farther north. One incredibly tall hoodoo known at the “Torch” rewards those who explore up a northern gully. The area is accessed via a gravel road which parallels the highway. No amenities exist, though primitive car camping is available. The area is popular with ATV riders who enjoy a network of back-roads running through the nearby foothills.

Thru-hikers connecting the Henry Mountains to Poison Springs Canyon can access the area fairly easily. The Hayduke Trail passes to the north and a lower elevation route goes over Pennellen Pass to the south.
