Next week I will set out on my newest big hike — Zion to Natural Bridges! It’s the 20th anniversary of my first big hike in Utah, so I’m looking forward to doing a bunch of “Then vs Now” comparisons along the way. I also hope to visit some spots I haven’t been to since I was a teenager! It should be 300+ miles in just over three weeks… and if all goes well I might just keep going! Follow along on Instagram for occasional posts while I’m on route and then of course the videos will be coming here later this summer.

Wow – 20 years – that’s awesome, Jamal! It’s kind of wild to stop and think about how much time has passed when viewed through the lens of backpacking trips.
I just finished a short backpack trip down Bullet-GG (3-night, cut it short a day because it just kinda sucked down in that part of the gulch, TBH, and water was an issue), and was thinking about how grateful I am that I can still do these solo trips with no health issues or limitations aside from some meniscal degeneration in one knee, given that I’m turning 60 in June. Don’t feel/look/act that age, so ♀️.
Also discovered a GINORMOUS petroglyph panel I’d never heard of during a car camping/day hiking trip down Government and up to Big Man about a month ago. I called it the “superman panel” because one of the figures is much bigger than life-size. It cannot be seen from the wash itself.
Fistbump to fellow GenX’er who’s been a source of inspiration for me and many others for as long as you’ve been on YouTube. Will look forward to the videos and updates.
Stay safe, and have a blast out there. And here’s to hopefully another decade or so of regular trips into the canyon country of southern Utah !
