New Hike: Zion to Capitol Reef

This weekend I’m going to head out on my newest big hike across southern Utah. This time I’ll trek from Zion National Park to Capitol Reef National Park via a wandering route of approximately 300 miles. I’m excited to re-visit some of my favorite places as well as explore a few that have been on my TODO list for a while. Potential highlights of the route will be:

  • The Barracks
  • Upper Paria
  • Wahweep Canyon
  • Kaiparowits Plateau
  • 50-Mile Mountain
  • Willow Gulch/40-Mile Gulch
  • Coyote Gulch
  • Stevens Canyon
  • Halls Creek Narrows
  • Lower Muley Twist
  • .

I plan to post daily updates on the Across Utah Facebook Page. Click LIKE and follow along!

One may also track my progress via the the Cerberus Tracker Map.

Full report with pictures and video when I get back home. 🙂

    1. Whow, you are doing what I always dreamed of. I’m soaking in every one of your movies. Hope you are okay as your tracking map ended may 16th -which is now 9 days ago- without you reaching Capitol Reef. Greetings from Germany.

      • Thanks! Yes — I finished the hike as planned, but just forgot to log my final location on the SAT tracker map. Full report and video coming soon.

    2. I’m looking forward to following along, Jamal. You’re gonna love The Barracks. Do you plan on hiking out the entire way to Mt. Carmel Junction?

    3. We are all attracted to the beauty of southern Utah. There is plenty to see on long day hikes as I do every summer in Utah. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world.

    4. Hey, Good to hear…the nomadic life is in our souls…..look forward to your adventure…Allen Bealle
